Titan(ic) Discourse
The English-speaking world was gripped by the tragic story of the missing Oceangate submersible that was lost exploring the wreckage of the Titanic.
While much of the mainstream reporting focused on the 90-hour countdown until the Titan submersible lost oxygen, the internet was alive with chatter around the event.
Discourses initially diverged from the sombre tone of mainstream reporting, choosing instead to mock a group of ultra-wealthy explorers who were seeking novel dopamine hits. The premise of this misanthropic angst was along the lines of - they don't care about you, they likely support policies which make your life harder, so fuck 'em.
An old interview with the head of Oceangate, who died when Titan imploded, was amplified where he claimed that he did not hire middle-aged, white, ex-navy men as they were "uninspiring". This set up discourses whereby White male expertise should be considered a premium because men get things done properly when they do things the white way.
After it was revealed to the public that the US Navy had suspected hearing the vessel implode at the moment it lost control and comms; the conspiracies came thick and fast.
The central question was - if the Navy "knew", why did they let the public believe a five-day spectacle whereby five people were thought to be at the bottom of the ocean and banging S.O.S every half hour?
In short, the Navy allowed misinformation to spread without directly challenging it with unfortunate news.
This unwillingness to challenge misinformation has provided a tasty narrative for the right, whereby the Navy was acting on orders from the White House to run cover and distract the public from Hunter Bidens legal issues. Or, rather, the sweetheart deal Hunter Biden received for tax evasion and federal gun charges. The Hunter Biden set-up enabled further discourses whereby those within elite circles have a light touch when in trouble, but the system will bring force to bear against outsiders, like Trump and the J6 defendants when there is cause to do so.
Within more fringe conspiracy spheres, the Titan implosion adds to the mythos around the Titanic as a very public assassination of rouge power elites. The original theory is that the Titanic was designed to fail, but the unsinkable moniker was marketing to attract dissenting political dignitaries and wayward children on ancient elite bloodlines. The sinking of the Titanic was supposed to demonstrate to the elite power structure that there are older organisations at play who can get to you when you least expect it.
Now, the death of Shahzada Dawood and his son it being reimagined as a successful assassination plot. Unfortunately, posts circulated linking Dawood to the World Economic Forum, providing evidence for the claim that he "knew too much" and had to be silenced.
